It’s time to say goodbye to the blues and dive into the greener side of the color wheel. We’ve seen the refreshing shade popping up everywhere of late, from in green rooms designed by our favorite decorators to the latest fashion designs hitting the runway and even our own backyards.
And, it’s clear that green will be playing a big role in our homes with the announcement of Benjamin Moore’s 2022 Color of the Year: October Mist. The sage tone feels fresh and distinct without ever overwhelming the eye, with an approachability that allows people opportunity to experiment more with color.
“October Mist 1495 and the corresponding Color Trends 2022 palette reflect an effortless harmony of colors, while inspiring unique combinations for any paint project,” says Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore Director of Color Marketing & Development. |
The paint company explains that botanicals served as the jumping-off point for selecting the color of the year and its corresponding palette. While October Mist evokes the stem of a plant, the fourteen other shades in Benjamin Moore’s Color Trends 2022 palette reflect tones of different flowers and the environments in which they grow.
The 14 hues of the Color Trends 2022 palette include: October Mist 1495, Mysterious AF-565, Hint of Violet 2114-60, Morning Dew OC-140, High Park 467, Collector’s Item AF-45, Venetian Portico AF-185, Wild Flower 2090-40, Pale Moon OC-108, Steam AF-15, Fernwood Green 2145-40, Quiet Moments 1563, Natural Linen 966, and Gloucester Sage HC-100.
Benjamin Moore encourages people to play around with different color pairings within the palette to create personal spaces that embody their style. October Mist paired with a playful lilac tone like Wild Violet makes for a refreshing bedroom provoking creativity, whereas the timeless green tone takes on a dramatic face when placed in a den or home bar with deep wooden tones. You can also never go wrong when pairing a grey-green like October Mist with a neutral paint color for a peaceful interior.
Earlier in the year, PPG and Sherwin-Williams announced their own selections for 2022 Color of the Year which both happened to fall in the grey-green category. It’s looking like will be seeing a lot of this shade in the year to come.
